Cheltenham Tip of the Week: Six weeks to go
Several horses staked their claims for the festival at Cheltenham Trials Day last weekend.
Stay Away Fay
Brown Advisory Novices Chase, March 13
11-2 with BoyleSports
Sir Gino put down a marker for the Triumph when dispatching his ante post market rival, Burdett Road, in easy fashion. Noble Yates will be Stayers’ Hurdle bound on this year’s route to the National after success in the Cleeve and Lossiemouth has produced a career best to win the International.
However, it’s a horse that didn’t win that features as our Tip of the Week.
Stay Away Fay put up a big performance against more seasoned rivals in the Cotswold Chase on Saturday and if he runs to that level back against novices in the Brown Advisory, he could be very hard to beat.
He was unsuited by a stop/start gallop in that contest but they’re more likely to go at a decent clip at the festival, particularly in this race, and that will help this son of Shantou who doesn’t do anything particularly quickly.

He holds entries for the Gold Cup and the 3m6f novice chase, the latter is not a race that Paul Nicholls sends his top horses too and it would be hard to justify a Gold Cup entry after Saturday’s defeat.
It’s hard to see him running in anything other than the Brown Advisory, a race that Harry Cobden hinted that he would run in after Saturday’s race, and he won’t be anywhere near his current price if he does turn up back in novice company.
